About Lamonts

Lamonts, Solicitors, who were formerly known as Lamont & Co. was established in 1985 by the founding Partner, Eileen Lamont, who has worked as a Solicitor in Ayrshire and previously in Glasgow, for a period of twenty five years. The Practice started out in a purpose-built building in Dalblair Road in Ayr and in recent years has moved to Miller Chambers at number 16 Miller Road, Ayr, which is a very gracious Georgian terraced building opposite the well known local hotel formerly known as the Kylestrome Hotel, now renamed the Cariston Hotel. As you will see from the "How to find us" section, our office is very close to Ayr Rail Station with there being good open air and multi-storey car parking within easy walking distance. Lamonts has, over the years, prided itself in having an approachable friendly and efficient legal service to offer to clients. The firm has a broad client base which includes private individual clients and business clients from all over Scotland. The solicitors in our firm are:-

Eileen Lamont, Partner Eileen has worked as a solicitor in Ayr since 1982 and concentrates mainly on private client work and in particular Property Transactions, Wills, Estates, Accident Claims and Matrimonial work. She has a large "senior citizen" client base for whom she is happy to provide extra attention and personal visits when required. She is married with children who have attended both Primary and Secondary Schools in Ayr. Eileen's husband Michael is also a Solicitor with his own firm specialising in Employment Law

Mark Meehan, Partner Mark has worked as a Solicitor in Ayrshire since 1984, living formerly outside Glasgow, then in Troon and for many years now in Ayr. He also focuses mainly on private client work in the areas covered by Eileen and, in addition, has a keen interest in Commercial and General Business Law. Mark represents a number of business clients and Companies mainly in Ayrshire and the Glasgow area. He is also active in the field of professional sports, especially football, acting as adviser to licensed agents and to sports persons direct.

Kenneth Donnelly, Associate Solicitor Ken has worked for Lamonts since 1990 having completed his period of Traineeship with the Firm. He has remained with us as an Associate Solicitor and valued member of staff. Ken assists the Partners in all areas of their practice and provides valuable back-up in dealing with client's enquiries. Ken has made valuable input to the development of the business systems at Lamonts.

Susan Forbes, Assistant Solicitor Susan joined Lamonts in 2002 on a part time basis to assist mainly with Executry business, Susan has worked as a solicitor in both North and South Ayrshire for a considerable number of years and has substantial experience in Conveyancing and Executries. Sheena Gebbie - is Eileen's secretary who has had many years of experience in local legal offices. Sheena has worked in the areas of Civil Court, Matrimonial and Executries and Conveyancing.

June Milne - is Mark's Secretary, who job shares with Jackie. June has worked as a Legal Secretary with Lamonts for thirteen years, both before and after the arrival of her two daughters.

Jackie Millar - joined us last year and job shares with June. Jackie worked for many years with Abbey National PLC and East Ayrshire Council prior to joining Lamonts.

Ann Ewart - is our Legal Cashier. Ann worked as Cashier in the Accounts Department of ICI for thirty five years before joining Lamonts in 1996.

Karen Leggat - is our youngest member of staff who works primarily for our associate solicitor, Ken Donnelly, concentrating mainly on Conveyancing work.

Carole Warner - is our Receptionist and has held various administrative posts over the last twenty years in both Scotland and England.

Shirley Walker - is our newest member our team currently working for Ken Donnelly concentrating mainly on Conveyancing work.
